- The archaeological adventure continues!
Southern Transylvania Projects enters its 5th season exploring
the evolution of a Chalcolithic community, both in space and
time.
The excavation (2002-2004) of the
Mosna site (Medias, Transylvania, Romania) has revealed several
housing structures, a plethora of spectacular artefacts (painted
and incised ceramics, stone and bone tools, a gold pendant -
unique!). Surveys and test trenches have shown several other
sites of the same community in the next valley (Valea Viilor)
which indicates the semi nomadic aspect of this culture. It is
this nomadic character that we intend to explore during the 2005
season, excavating these newly identified sites. Would you be so

- Achill Archaeological Field School
The Achill Archaeological Field
School on Achill Island, Co Mayo, Ireland was founded in 1991 to
provide, hands-on excavation training to students of
anthropology & archaeology. The Field School continues each year
& interest in the work being conducted has increased, especially
with the recent discovery of a megalithic structure which is
attracting interest from experts all over Ireland.
The Courses are divided into 6 week Modules and all are
accredited courses of the National University of Ireland at
Galway.
